The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for the United Kingdom Overseas Territories met on 7 February to discuss matters relating to OTs. APPG members include Andrew Rosindell MP, Henry Smith MP, Lord Shutt of Baron of Greetland, Baroness Hooper CMG and Tom Tugendhat MP.
At this meeting the Cayman Islands were able to update members of the APPG about UKOTA activities and keep close ties within Parliament. As Chairman of UKOTA, The Cayman Islands Government was able to update on issues relating to UKOTA. OTs are also able to share their updates with MPs and peers, elaborating on issues such as the state of the economy, new plans and expectations and any issue where assistance is being sought.
This proved to be an excellent forum for the Cayman Islands to share their interest in the concept of Global Britain and the stance of taking the UK exciting the EU as an opportunity to create synergies between the UK and the Cayman Islands.
