The team at the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism have been busy promoting Cayman in the UK and Europe.

B2C Shows: The CIDOT has a presence at a number of well-known events with a purpose-built exhibition stand. This exhibition stand is currently being re-designed to further showcase Cayman as a luxury holiday destination with new images, a new look and feel and  even built-in fans to keep the team cool on hot days. The shows play an important role in extending the awareness of the Cayman Islands and afford face-to-face interaction with consumers. Shows we are exhibiting at this year include the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the Goodwood Festival of Speed,  Countryfile Live and the Birmingham Dive Show. We also exhibited at the RHS Spring Festival, Malvern in May (<<IMAGE BELOW>>) which was very successful in showcasing the  destination to a high footfall of the Cayman Islands’ target audience.

Upcoming Visiting Journalist trips: Rose Tighe, PR and Social Media Executive for CIDOT is taking a group of lifestyle journalists to Grand Cayman and Little Cayman in early June with writers from the Irish Independent, the Irish Times, the Irish Daily Mail and Hello! magazine. The aim of the trip is to showcase why Cayman is the perfect holiday destination, highlighting the range of things to see and do as well as the contrast between the islands.

Familarisation trips: Richard Trasler, Marketing Executive for CIDOT, hosted six tour operators on Grand Cayman in May. The jam-packed itinerary saw the group visit historical sites, take part in the bioluminescence kayaking and carry out site inspections of the island’s main properties. There will be further fam trips hosted throughout the year.

CTO Roadshows: The newest member of the CIDOT team, Sergio Sosa, attended travel agent roadshows in Scotland, organised by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation. The roadshows took place in Aberdeen and Glasgow and saw over 100 travel agents attend to find out more about the Caribbean destinations. Sergio was on hand to present the Cayman Islands to the agents as well as answer any questions. Cayman Islands goodie bags were also presented to winners of a raffle.

New website: The CIDOT’s brand new global website is now live at www.visitcaymanislands.com . As well as a new look and feel, easy to navigate tabs and an interactive map, the site provides everything you need to know about visiting the Cayman Islands.

Routes Europe: Don McDougall, Regional Manager CIDOT Europe attended Routes Europe with the Director of Tourism, Rosa Harris and representatives from airline consultancy firm, ASM. Routes Europe (which took place in Bilbao, Spain)n is a B2B airline event where pre-arranged 15-minute appointments are scheduled with airline partners. Attendance of the show was part of an ongoing strategy to increase European airlift to the Cayman Islands.
