The Prime Minister has appointed Baroness Sugg CBE to become the new Minister with responsibility for the Overseas Territories and Sustainable Development.
Cayman Islands Premier Hon Aden McLaughlin met Minister Baroness Liz Sugg on 27 February for a friendly introductory conversation, commenting that the Cayman Islands very much looks forward to working with Baroness Sugg in the coming months and years.
The portfolio was previously held by Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon.
Baroness Sugg was previously Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for International Development from 23 April 2019 to 13 February 2020, Government Whip (Baroness in Waiting) from 15 June 2017 to 26 July 2019, and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport from October 2017 to April 2019. Baroness Sugg became a Conservative life peer on 30 August 2016.
Baroness Sugg previously served as Director of Operations and Campaigns at Downing Street under David Cameron. She was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2015 Dissolution Honours.
