This month’s meetings with MPs continued, to establish better relations and ties within Westminster.
There have historically been assurances given to The Overseas Territories that they would be adequately represented at home and abroad by Her Majesty’s Government (HMG), and as the UK will now be developing a new trade relationship with the world, this support will have a new found meaning to the Overseas Territories. The Cayman Islands is therefore keen to engage with HMG to ensure mutual benefit from the relationship.
Following this important meeting, discussions are now in place to engage activity and involvement within “The Great Festival of Innovation” in Hong King in March this year. The Festival It will enable the sharing of innovations that will drive the future of free trade and build life-long partnerships. As such The Cayman Islands Government feels it appropriate for the Overseas Territories to be involved with the UK at this festival.
A meeting was also held with Helen Goodman, MP, at which Mr Bush was able to have a meaningful conversation about the history of the Cayman Islands, the Cayman Islands connection to the UK and to give clear guidance on compliance measures in which the Cayman Islands are usually among the first to sign up to any regulation that is set in place to provide transparency.
