Two important dinners were held this month hosted by The Premier Hon. Alden McLaughin. The first was a Dinner for the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) members and the second to entertain and update the Cayman Islands Friends of Cayman network.
The Parliamentary Dinner hosted by the Premier was held at the House of Commons and included MPs and Lords from across the political spectrum. Many months of meetings with MPs culminated in this dinner, at which The Premier was able to update MPs and Peers and thank them for their keen involvement in the Cayman Islands and their willingness to learn more and be of assistance to the Country from inside the Westminster. In attendance were some long standing MP friends of the Cayman Islands including Bill Wiggin, MP and Graham Brady MP. Also in attendance were new MP contacts Martin Vickers MP, Andrew Bridgen MP, The Lord Purvis of Tweed, and The Lord Northbrook. Rt Hon Diane Abbott, Shadow Home Secretary, Baroness Anelay, Former Minister for the Overseas Territories, and Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, the Minister for the Overseas Territories were also in attendance.
A Friends of Cayman dinner was held to close the events of the week. At this annual event, The Premier is able to meet with Friends of the Cayman Islands and update them on current events and affairs in the Cayman Islands as well as give briefings on developments from meetings of the previous week. This is an important event to gather together all those closely associated with the Cayman Islands who now live in the UK. It is also an opportunity to invite and host new friends and associates, as well as engage potential high net worth individuals who are interested to learn more about the Cayman Islands.
