The Cayman Islands was the star of the show at a recent Restaurant Association Gala Dinner at the Savoy Hotel in London in partnership with the Nth Degree Dining Club where over 250 leaders of the hospitality industry came together to celebrate excellence in food & wine service. The Cayman Islands Government Office participated with The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism hosting two tables with guests including Sir Graham Brady MP, Chairman of the Cayman Islands All Party Parliamentary Group, journalists, tour operations, Michelin star chefs and key business visitors from the Cayman Islands.

The evening included an auction for Springboard UK a charity helping young people achieve their potential; supporting unemployed people of any age into work; and people facing multiple barriers to work. The Cayman Islands offered a key prize of a holiday for two including flights and accommodation at the Kimpton Seafire Resort and Spa to share the story of Cayman with the audience bids were received and the audience were invited to a ‘heads and tails’ interactive participation game of chance to find the lucky winners. Chris Duggan, Vice President of Investment Operations at Dart Enterprises talked about the Cayman Islands and the Seafire Resport and Spa, offering an additional seven night stay to the auction.

Mr Bush said of the event, “These events are particularly important for the Cayman Islands overseas, as here we can showcase the islands to the top of the top in the culinary industry, creating a greater understanding of the Cayman Islands as a significant culinary destination and enhancing and improving future opportunities for Cayman globally.”

The Nth Degree Club founder and President of the Restaurant Association, Robert Walton MBE said: “I look back at the past 50 years of the Restaurant Association and think of the pioneers of 1967 and how their contribution to the hospitality industry in the UK, and especially London, have been instrumental to its success. This has lead to London being recognised as the hospitality capital of the world. The Association is about to start a new journey and the future is extremely exciting. There seems to be an insatiable appetite for the hospitality sector with our chefs becoming ever more popular, not only in their own establishments but also in the world of media and television. We are delighted to be able to partner with the Cayman Islands,  which we believe to be the “Culinary Capital of the Caribbean”. I especially look forward to developing our relationship to promote culinary excellence in the Cayman Islands ”
