UK Driver’s Licence

How to exchange your license:

1. Collect a UK Driving Licence (Exchange) Application Form D1 from local post office or order the D1 form from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) at https://www.gov.uk/dvlaforms.

2. Complete the D1 Form in its entirety.

3. Meanwhile, contact the Cayman Islands Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing (DVDL) to request a Letter of Entitlement.

1. 1. Email the Customer Support Unit at: DVDLExamBookings@gov.ky and DVDL.Helpdesk@gov.ky
   2. Subject line should read: LETTER OF ENTITLEMENT (UK)

4. Expect a reply from CI DVDLs Customer Support Unit with further instructions:

1. 1. The cost of a Letter of Entitlement is currently CI$75.00. Fees are subject to change; please refer to the DVDL website for the most up-to-date information.
   2. Application process time will be 3 – 5 business days.
   3. Letter of Entitlement will be emailed (PDF format) back to you.

5. Submit the completed UK Driving Licence (Exchange) Application Form D1 to the address on the form with:

1. 1. £43.00 fee—Payment must be made by cheque or postal order only, payable to DVLA Swansea. Please note that this fee is subject to change; for the most up-to-date cost, please refer to the DVLA website.
   2. Cayman Islands Driver’s Licence (must be a valid driver’s licence), which you will be relinquishing by applying for an exchange.
   3. Cayman Islands Letter of Entitlement.

6. You should be in receipt of your British Licence in approximately 3-4 weeks – your British Licence will be for an automatic vehicle only.
